Description and Usage:

Paridopa (Levodopa+Carbidopa+Entacapone) tablets are indicated for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease in patients experiencing motor fluctuations. Levodopa is converted to dopamine in the brain, helping to replenish dopamine levels, while Carbidopa helps prevent the breakdown of levodopa before it reaches the brain. Entacapone prolongs the effects of levodopa by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks it down, thereby improving motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

• Levodopa: Levodopa is a precursor of dopamine. In Parkinson’s disease, there is a deficiency of dopamine, a neurotransmitter involved in movement control. Levodopa crosses the blood-brain barrier and is converted into dopamine in the brain, thereby alleviating motor symptoms.
• Carbidopa: Carbidopa inhibits the peripheral decarboxylation of levodopa, ensuring more levodopa reaches the brain and reducing peripheral side effects.
• Entacapone: Entacapone inhibits the enzyme catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), which breaks down levodopa in the peripheral tissues. By inhibiting this enzyme, entacapone prolongs the effects of levodopa in the brain, thereby reducing motor fluctuations in Parkinson’s disease.
