Description and Usage:

Viglip-M (Vildagliptin + Metformin) 50mg/1000mg tablets are prescribed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It combines the effects of two different classes of antidiabetic medications:

1. Vildagliptin: Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones in the body, which help to lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion.
2. Metformin: Metformin is a biguanide antidiabetic medication. It works by decreasing glucose production in the liver, improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and reducing intestinal glucose absorption.

• Vildagliptin: Inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which increases the levels of incretin hormones (such as glucagon-like peptide-1 or GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide or GIP). These hormones stimulate insulin release and suppress glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
